About the Essentia Latex Mattresses
Essentia Latex Mattress Specifications
Both the Bionda and the Stratami latex mattresses have an organic cotton cover on the exterior of the mattress. Immediately beneath the cover is a Bucaneve wrap that is designed to reduce friction and wear on the other mattress materials.
In addition to the cover and the Bucaneve wrap, the Bionda mattress has three layers. The top layer is 3” of GOLS-certified organic latex. This latex has a dome-like texture designed to improve its comfort feel. The second layer is 2” of GOLS-certified organic latex produced using the Dunlop process. The bottom layer is another 3” of GOLS-certified organic latex that acts as the mattress support foam.
In addition to the cover and wrap, the Stratami model has two foam layers. The top layer is 3” of GOLS-certified organic latex. The bottom layer is 5” of GOLS-certified latex that serves as the support core for the mattress.

The Essentia mattresses are available for purchase online through the company’s website. They are also available in about 20 brick-and-mortar stores in the US and Canada.
Sleep Trial / Refunds
Essentia offers a 60-day sleep trial on its latex mattresses. During this 60 day period, you can return the mattress for a refund or exchange if you are not satisfied with the product.
If you decide to return the mattress, the company will coordinate with you to pick it up and haul it away from your home. It is important to note, though, that the company subtracts a transportation fee — 9% of your purchase price — from your refund.
Delivery
Essentia offers free shipping to the continental United States and Canada. The mattress can arrive in as few as 2-5 business days when the purchased product is in stock.
The company offers both standard and white glove delivery. Standard delivery includes transportation of the mattress to your front door. The mattress is roll-packed, which means that it is compressed in plastic packaging and placed inside a box. When you remove the mattress from the packaging, it expands to its full size. Standard delivery does not include any setup or haul-away of your old mattress.
White glove delivery includes installation of the mattress in the room of your choosing. White glove delivery can also include haul-away of your old mattress as long as you specify this request in your order process. White glove service costs $249 unless you purchase certain bed bases from the company, in which case the cost of white glove service is included.
Warranty
The Essentia mattresses come with a 20-year warranty that covers any defects in materials or workmanship. This 20-year period applies to the mattress components only; the cover is only covered for a 2-year period.
During the first 10 years of the warranty, the company will repair or replace a defective mattress. During the last 10 years, this is prorated based on the year and initial purchase price.
The warranty does not cover any transportation costs associated with a warranty claim.

Overall, Essentia has received a solid but not spectacular reputation for its post-sales customer service. Most customers have found the company to do an effective job in providing support when issues arise. The company does not have a rating from the Better Business Bureau.

Support
Latex has an excellent reputation for providing a good balance of comfort and contouring support, and the Essentia latex mattresses have been found by most customers to live up to this reputation. While latex can be built with more give and plushness, it maintains a level of resiliency that improves its responsiveness and prevents feeling stuck in the bed.
Durability
Compared to most mattress materials, latex is known for having above-average durability. Essentia claims to have achieved superb durability that is borne out through extensive internal stress-testing of their mattresses. One of the only major complaints about the Essentia latex mattresses is that they permit more motion transfer than a mattress material like traditional memory foam. This is an issue that can arise given the springiness and resilience of latex foams. Offgassing
Latex foams, especially natural latex foams, typically have very little issue with offgassing. That said, immediately upon unboxing, there may be some new mattress smell. This odor is not harmful and should rapidly dissipate.
Sleeping Hot
Sleeping hot is not usually an issue with the Essentia latex mattresses. The resilience and bounce of latex helps to keep sleepers from sinking too deeply into a mattress or feeling stuck in their bed. This feeling is often the primary culprit in sleeping hot as it can trap heat around the body and prevent cooling airflow.
Intimacy
Latex is generally thought of as the optimal type of material for a mattress comfort layer when it comes to facilitating sex. This relates to its bounce and the spring-like feeling that helps to make it easier to move on top of the bed.
